March 2, 2012

This Sunday we go back to worship services at 9:30 and 11:00!

Join us at our Lord’s Table this Sunday. Pastor will be speaking from Mark 8:31-38.

Sunday is the second Sunday of Lent, and we begin our One Great Hour of Sharing minutes for mission. This is our Easter offering and can be given any time during Lent using the special envelopes in the pew rack or the March Good News that was mailed this week. We thank Christopher Gillis for doing this week’s Minute for Mission.

A2J

This Sunday A2J meets at 11 am with Lions and Lambs. Youth need to be in the room behind Madden Hall promptly as we will assemble the first night kits. We will be assembling approximately 85 kits for delivery to the AC Rescue Mission. This activity concludes our mission project Pennies for Pins co-sponsored with Lions and Lambs. We will conclude around 12:30 after lunch.

A limited number of Lenten tokens are available in the narthex. If you did not get one last week see one of the ushers.

We thank Joan Nale and everyone who assisted with the Unity Dinner Wednesday night. It went well. The Lenten Lunches begin this Wednesday at noon with worship at the Absecon Methodist Church. These short worship services with soup and sandwich lunches are a long standing part of our Lenten observance. Join us if you haven’t in the past. You’ll find them meaningful and enjoyable.

On March 28 our church will be hosting the final Lenten Lunch. Fellowship Committee has posted a sign up sheet in the vestibule for help providing soup and sandwiches, serving, and cleaning up. Please consider your time and talent.

The Doug Jablonski Men’s Fellowship will meet this Saturday at 8:30. Breakfast will be pancakes. Come help plan for our Good Friday service and breakfast.

The total for our winter fundraiser as of last Sunday is $11,270. Gifts may still be dedicated for this purpose.

We are happy to report that the middle house on School Street has been rented. A couple will be moving in on March 12. Welcome.

Come to the Ceili!! (Saturday, March 24) - This should be a fun event for everyone with dinner and live, traditional Irish music (referred to as Trad) and Irish dancers.  We will have ham accompanied with potatoes, carrots and sautéed cabbage.  Dinner is at 5:30, with the program immediately following.  Please bring your appetite, dancing shoes and wear something green.  $6.00 for adults, $3.00 for children.  Come on out, the craic will be mighty. (In case you're wondering, craic, pronounced crack, is a Gaelic word which means having a good time or a laugh.  A ceili is a traditional Irish gathering for fun, fellowship and laughs.)

Daylight Savings Time begins next Sunday, March 11. Set your clocks ahead one hour before you go to bed Saturday.

There will be one service on March 25 at 10:00 a.m. (three weeks from now). The Easter play will be presented at the worship service. Lunch and Easter egg hunt will follow.
