Come worship with us Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30.  Pastor will be speaking from John 1:43-51.

We welcome Harold and Cheryl Hawkes to our worship service this Sunday. Harold is our new Director of Music Ministry, and Cheryl has joined our choir. Harold writes music, has directed choir and bell choir, and plays piano and organ. He and Cheryl live in Manahawkin. Be sure to introduce yourself!

This week A2J will meet at 10:30 am in the 7th/8th grade classroom for a game.  Following the game, we will meet in the Sr. high classroom for bible study and finish with lunch at 12:30 p.m.

A2J will host a Family Game Night on Saturday, January 21 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Madden Hall as a fundraiser.  A pot luck dinner will be served followed by good old fashion fun playing board and card games.  Suggested donation for the evening is $5.00.  Mark your calendar and plan for a fun filled evening.

A2J will host a Family Movie Night on Friday, January 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Madden Hall as a fundraiser.  A movie for children will be shown and popcorn as well as movie candy will served.  Wear your pajamas and bring a sleeping bag or blanket to sit.  Suggested donation for the evening is $5.00.  Mark your calendar and plan for a fun filled evening.

A2J youth are sending a care package to Lance Corporal Craig Thomas stationed in Afghanistan later this month.  Youth are to bring an item(s) for the package on Sunday, January 22.  The youth will also write Craig letters.  If anyone in the congregation would like to include a letter/note or candy/snack item in the package, please bring it Sunday, January 22.  Please visit http://adoptaplatoon.org/site/ and select the Care Package Idea link under the Helpful Info tab on the left hand side of the screen for a list of ideas to include in a package as well as a note about what cannot be sent.

Next Sunday is an important day in the spiritual life of our church. Dr. Gary Young will be with us to lead two sessions on spiritual life, spiritual discipline, and Biblical guidelines for a healthy Christian lifestyle. The schedule for the day is as follows:

     9:00 Worship (Note: No Breakfast on Brunch Sundays)

   10:00 Brunch

   11:00 Worship with Dr. Young – Spiritual Values

   12:30 Break – refreshments in Madden Hall

   12:50 Afternoon session                                                                                                             

     2:45 Closing prayer

Spiritual growth is a real need in our church, and this is a great time of year to get caught up to speed with where we need to be. So join us! Registration is not necessary – showing up is.

Our annual meeting has been called for Sunday, January 29. There will be one service at 10:00 followed by the congregation/corporation meeting at about 11:15. A free pizza lunch will be served in Madden Hall following the meeting. Copies of the annual report will be available later this week in your mailboxes and pew racks. Pick up your copy and read!

Tickets for the Men’s Club’s annual Valentine’s dinner will go on sale next Sunday for $10 each. The event will be on Saturday night, February 11, at 6:00 p.m. Choice of meat is steak or chicken. Bruce and Sherry Townsend will provide music and entertainment. See any member of the Doug Jablonski Men’s Fellowship.

Our Senior Youth will be on retreat in the Poconos this weekend. They will return Sunday afternoon.

The Christian Readers’ Book Club will meet next Wednesday at 7:00 in Cobb Lounge. See Lucy Jerue if you are interested in joining this group!

The mailbox system will be up all month. Please get your financial giving statements, offering envelopes, directories, etc. It is expensive to mail these items to you. Annual reports will be in them later this week.
