December 9, 2011

Our children have been practicing their Christmas musical, “A Lamb’s Tale”, for many weeks, and it all finally comes together this Sunday during our 10:00 a.m. worship service. We will be lighting the Candle of Love on our wreath.

Following the service we will move directly to Madden Hall for lunch and our Birthday Party for Jesus.  Remember to bring wrapped gifts of warm hats, gloves, scarves, socks for guests at Sister Jean’s Kitchen.

Many thanks to Priscilla for her leadership, direction, and a job well done.

Our Cents-Ability Offering will be received this Sunday. Please use the containers at the entrances to the sanctuary for your donations. Your gifts help to feed the hungry both locally and around the world.

Beginning today (for the month of December only) church office hours may be reduced Monday-Wednesday. The office will open at 2:30p Thursday and Friday. (If the weather is bad Wednesday or Thursday night this schedule is out the window. It’s complicated.  - G)

Please call before stopping in!

We will also have some special Christmas music. Don’t forget that on brunch Sundays there is no breakfast and the second service begins at 11:00.

The Saturday, December 17th Mother’s Day Out is cancelled.  The youth decided not to host the fundraising event after hearing the feedback provided.  The youth will host other family friendly fundraiser events in January.  More information will be announced soon.

A2J will not meet this week due to A Lamb’s Tale at 10 am and Jesus’ Birthday celebration following the service.

Next week A2J will be on our amended schedule due to the brunch and we will have our Christmas Party.  Each youth needs to bring a wrapped present for the grab bag that cost at least $5 and no more than $10 that is gender generic as well as a favorite holiday dessert to share with the group.

Each youth’s donation for the Christmas Food basket is due next Sunday, December 18th.  A2J teamed up with the Deacons once again and is providing a Christmas meal to a family in need this Christmas season.

Christmas Eve services will be as usual with family worship at 5:00 (with our usual pageant) and traditional worship at 7:00. The 7:00 service will feature a cantata by the choir entitled “Bethlehem Joy” directed by Jan Cobb.

Offering envelope boxes for 2012 will be placed in your mailbox this week. If you don’t have envelopes and want them, see Bob Wilkenloh. Financial statements for your 2011 giving will be in your boxes by the second Sunday of January. Gifts to the church made after Christmas day will probably be counted as a 2012 contribution. (December 25 is the last Sunday of the year.)
