Join us as we gather at our Lord’s Table on this second Sunday in the season of Advent. Gracie Dischert will light the second candle on our advent wreath, the Peace candle. Rev. Cobb will be speaking from Mark 1:1-8.

We welcome guest organist Christine Fellows at 9:00 and our Handbell Choir at both services.

Next Wednesday Lunch Bunch will meet at 11:30 to travel to Gilchrist’s Offshore Café, Cologne Avenue, Galloway. We will meet at the restaurant at noon if you want to drive on your own.

Sunday, Dec. 11, there will be just one service at 10:00 a.m. A continental breakfast will be served at 9:00. Our young people will lead most of the service with their Christmas production, “A Lamb’s Tale”, directed by Priscilla. After the service there will be a luncheon and birthday party for Jesus. Come for great music, food and fun. Don’t forget to bring mittens, hats, etc. for Sister Jean’s people.

It’s not too late to join the Christmas Journey study group with Pastors Cobb and Reedell on Sunday nights. Cost is $5.00. This week we discuss Joseph.

Church Christmas caroling will be on Thursday, December 22.

Many thanks to all who helped decorate the church this past week. It looks great!

Thanks also to everyone who helped paint and repair the Bakely House. There will be an open house during the birthday party for Jesus on December 11. If you’ve never been in our mission house, take a minute to lake a look.

A2J

Saturday, December 17th A2J will host a Mother’s Day Out in Madden Hall from noon until 4 p.m.  Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade children are invited and the cost is $20 per child.  Our theme for the day is All aboard the Polar Express!  The afternoon will include lunch provided by Culinary Creations by Carey, a winter craft, movie and popcorn.  Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas and slippers for this event.  Only pre-paid registrations will be accepted and A2J youth will be available this Sunday accepting registrations after the first service.

A2J will meet this week at 10:30 am in the 7th/8th grade classroom, followed by bible study when we examine the Old Testament.  After lunch at 12:30 p.m., the youth participating in the Christmas play will be dropped off in the sanctuary for play practice and all others may be picked up in Madden Hall.

Don’t forget there will be only one service at 10:00 on Christmas Day ad New Year’s Day (no breakfast). There will be two services on Christmas Eve. The kids will do a pageant at 5:00 during Family Worship and the choir will sing a cantata entitled “Bethlehem Joy” at the 7:00 traditional service. Mark your calendar.

Reservations for the Evergreens lunch at Smithville Inn on December 12 are due by December 5. See your insert. (There will be no Bible Study – see you at the luncheon.)

The Doug Jablonski Men’s Fellowship will meet Saturday, December 10, at 8:30 a.m. Jim Maurer will be back with us. Breakfast is eggs.

There are still four tags on the Angel Tree. Don’t forget to bring the gifts back by December 11 wrapped and the tag securely fixed.

The Christmas Sunday Brunch is December 18. There will be Christmas foods and special meats. We will also have a special music group led by Christopher Gillis.
