This Sunday is Christ the King Sunday, the final Sunday of our church year.  Come and worship our Lord and King!  Pastor will be speaking from Matthew 25:31-46.

This is also our third Sunday of Stewardship emphasis. There will be a slide presentation of various activities and events, and Russ Adkisson, our Mission/Evangelism Chairman, will be speaking on our Benevolence giving.

Worship services this Sunday are at 9:00 and 11:00. (Please note the time of 2nd service!)

Brunch will be served between services this Sunday for $5.00 and the menu is awesome. Come and enjoy the Thanksgiving Spirit with worshippers from both services.

Our Senior High Youth will be taking on greater responsibility during our Sunday brunches. In return they have been given permission to place “tip jars” on the tables as an ongoing fundraising project. Money raised will go towards various trips and activities.

Sunday is last day for the Deacons Harvest Home collection of non-perishable food items, laundry detergent, personal hygiene products, and gently used coats and jackets for the Community Food Bank. Sorry they no longer accept blankets (bed bug issue). A big thank you to all the youth groups for carrying items down to the nursery each week.

Our Sunday night study is finishing up the course entitled “Seeing Gray – Where Faith and Politics Meet” this weekend. The next course is a Christmas course entitled “The Journey”. Come out and enjoy this advent adventure with fellow church members. We meet at 6:30 every Sunday night for 5 weeks in Cobb Lounge. Cost is only $5.00. If you want the book, that is an additional $10.00.

A collection box for Box Tops and Labels for Education is on the counter in Madden Hall to benefit Smithville School.  Box Tops are the pink “coupons” on General Mills cereals, Betty Crocker, Pillsbury, Kleenex, Cottonelle, Progresso, Ziploc, Saran Wrap, Viva, etc.

Labels for Education UPC labels are also on many everyday items such as Campbells, Pop Secret popcorn, Post cereals. The entire UPC showing the number of points is needed.

Box Tops and Labels are worth 10¢ each and allow schools to earn new equipment such as computers and software.  Last year Smithville School earned over $900 thanks to those who cut and saved before throwing away or recycling!

If you are not currently supporting this project for your own student, please consider helping.

The season of Advent begins Sunday, November 27, when we light the first candle on the Advent wreath. We will begin decorating the following week. The church mailbox system will be in place by Dec. 4. There will be only one service at 10:00 on December 11 when the children do their Christmas play, A Lamb’s Tale.

A2J

A2J will follow our amended schedule this week due to the churches monthly brunch.  We will meet at 10:45 am in the 7th/8th grade classroom to assist the deacons with moving the donated food for pick up and pack our Thanksgiving basket, followed by bible study when we finish the Choices Series.

Thank you to those A2J members who contributed a “gift” for our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes!  We donated two shoe boxes filled with goodies.

A2J has teamed up with the deacons to provide a Thanksgiving Food basket to a family in need.  Each child’s food item for contribution to the food basket is due this Sunday, November 20th.  We are in need of a Turkey for the basket.  If anyone has a free turkey to spare, we would appreciate the donation.  Please contact Linda Gillis at 862-926-8964 if you can help.

A2J teamed up with Culinary Creations by Carey for Thanksgiving Pies.  We took 19 pie orders and want to thank all who made our first fundraiser a big success.  We raised $114 towards our trip to attend a Spring Retreat at Johnsonburg.  We will be in the vestibule this Sunday at 10:30 am for pick up.

All aboard the Polar Express!  All Kindergarten through 2nd graders are invited   A2J will host a Mother’s Day Out in mid December as our next fundraiser.  More information will be published in the coming weeks.
