"But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for, Is their monument to-day, and for aye." - Thomas Dunn English

"How important it is for us to recognize and celebrate our heroes and she-roes!" - Maya Angelou

Thank you to all who have served and to those who continue to serve.

Our Stewardship emphasis continues as we come together on Gratitude Sunday.

We will recognize and thank our veterans. Our Handbell Choir will appear at both services.  Senior Youth will present a drama entitled “Time, Talent, Treasure”.  Ms. Jane McNeal will be our guest organist at 9:00a.

Pastor will be speaking from Matthew 25:14-30.

Our Cents-Ability Offering will be received Sunday.  Let’s be extra generous as this is a food offering for the hungry, and the needs are especially great this Thanksgiving season.

The Nominating Committee will make their first report Sunday. There will be a special meeting of the congregation on Nov. 27 between services to elect church officers.

* * * * * * *

There will also be another report Sunday from our Stewardship chairman, Jerry Hoenes, along with testimonies from some of our members.

Stewardship packets will be available in the vestibule.  Please pick up your envelope before you go home.

This week A2J meets in the 7th/8th grade classroom at 10:30 am for a craft.  We continue our bible study series on choices.  The second lesson is entitled Choices - “Choose to Forgive.”  This lesson examines forgiving others when they do wrong or hurt us.  At 12:30 p.m., youth participating in the Christmas play will be escorted to the sanctuary for practice and all other youth may be picked up in Madden Hall.

A2J is participating in Operation Christmas Child by filling two shoe boxes.  Thank you to those who have contributed a “gift” for our shoeboxes!  This is the last Sunday to bring your donation.  Additionally, each youth is to contribute $1.50 for the shipping/handling of the box.  Please remember your $1.50 this Sunday.

A2J has teamed up with the deacons to provide a Thanksgiving Food basket to a family in need.  Last week, each child selected an item to contribute to the food basket and the donation is due next Sunday, November 20th.  We are in need of a Turkey for the basket.  If anyone has a free turkey to spare, we would appreciate the donation.  Please contact Linda Gillis at 862-926-8964 if you can help.

A2J has teamed up with Culinary Creations by Carey for our first Fundraiser for the youth to attend a Spring Retreat at Johnsonburg.  We will be in Madden Hall between services taking orders for Thanksgiving Pies.  10” deep dish pie choices include Apple, Pumpkin, Cherry, and Cranberry Apple for $16 per pie.  Orders will be available for pickup next Sunday, November 20th in Madden Hall.

A2J youth will host a Mother’s Day Out in December for our next fundraiser.  More details will be published soon.  Please keep an eye out and help us raise the funds needed for our Spring Retreat to Johnsonburg.

A big thank you to all the youth groups for carrying items down to the nursery each week. Let’s top our contribution from last year of 1,200 lbs.!
