Our junior high youth group, A2J, will be having their first meeting of the new school year on Sunday from 11:00 to 1:00 (lunch included).  Anyone in 6th to 8th grade (or a sibling of someone in that age range) is encouraged to attend.  We ask each family to donate $30 for food, with an additional $10 for any siblings.  If this is a hardship, please come speak to one of us.  -- Janna Beth Cobb & Jim McManus

The Prayer Shawl/Quilt Ministry will have its first gathering on Saturday, October 2, at 9:30 a.m. in Madden Hall. (Please note the change of time and date.)  Quilts and knitted or crocheted shawls will be made by this group to pass on to anyone facing difficult circumstances.  Everyone is welcome to become a part of this new ministry of our church. (You don’t need to know how to sew.)  See Alice Smith for more information.

In early 2010, 16-year old Jennifer Grimes of Jacksonville, Texas, wanted to encourage others in following Christ. "I thought I'd tell you about a project my sister and I have started called Anonymous Encouragers," said Jennifer. "Basically, it's an idea to write strangers found in the phone book of your town anonymously (without putting your name or return address). The letters are usually short and always include an encouraging Bible verse. Anyway, we started it a couple of weeks ago and are writing one person each week."

Jennifer's achievable goal of one person a week will have her encouraging 52 people each year. She has signed up her sister and enlisted others to write letters. "My prayer is that not only the people that receive the letters be encouraged but even the ones that write them."
