“When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.” Acts 2:1-4

Come and be filled.

Pastor will be speaking from John 14:8-17.

Our Mission trip this year will be to Leesburg, Cumberland County, the week of July 19th.  There is much planning that goes into making a mission trip successful.  We need to know who is planning on going so that we can be sure this is going happen.  There is a sign-up sheet in the vestibule, and we hope you will consider volunteering.  This is an opportunity for some of our skilled members who have been unable to travel to Mississippi the past 4 years to jump on board and help out.  Questions can be directed to Alice Smith, Loretta Metz, or Russ Adkisson, Jr., Mission Comm. Chair.  We will be taking a trip to Leesburg after the 11 a.m. service on June 6th.  If you wish to go down on the van please contact one of the above or indicate on the sign up sheet in the vestibule!

Help with the Sunday Breakfast Club for June is sorely needed!  The last breakfast will be June 20.  Please sign up in the vestibule if you can set up, cook, or clean up.  Also, we will be in need of someone to organize this weekly event when breakfast resumes in the fall.  Contact Jo-ann Weller or Tina Brown if you are interested.

Waves of Worry

Several years ago a submarine was being tested and had to remain submerged for many hours. When it returned to the harbor, the captain was asked, "How did the terrible storm last night affect you?" The officer looked at him in surprise and exclaimed, "Storm? We didn't even know there was one!" The sub had been so far beneath the surface that it had reached the area known to sailors as "the cushion of the sea." Although the ocean may be whipped into huge waves by high winds, the waters below are never stirred.

This, I believe, is a perfect picture of the peace that comes from Christ's Spirit. The waves of worry, of fear, of heartbreak, cannot touch those resting in Christ. Sheltered by His grace and encouraged by His Spirit, the believer is given the perfect tranquility that only Christ can provide.
