We welcome our Liturgical Dancers under the direction of Jennifer Thomas to both worship services this Sunday.  (Dancers will be holding a bake sale between services in Madden Hall to defray the cost of costumes.)

During the 9:30 service Rylee Jo McElwee, daughter of Ken & Theresa McElwee and granddaughter of Dottie McCaffrey, will receive the sacrament of baptism.  Come welcome this child into our covenantal community!

Pastor will be speaking from Acts 16:11-34.

(Liturgical Dancers are to be reminded they will have a rehearsal tomorrow (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m.  They are to be at the church Sunday at 8:00 a.m.)

The Presbytery meeting this Tuesday will see the installation of our pastor as the new moderator of West Jersey Presbytery.  This is an open meeting, and worship should begin at about 7:15.  Unfortunately, most of the sanctuary seating is for registered delegates.  If you would like to congratulate Pastor and Mrs. Cobb there will be a reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. this Tuesday in Madden Hall with refreshments.  You are welcome to stay for the service, but parking and seating will be limited.  Our choir will be singing as part of the service.

Next Thursday, May 20, Pastor will be taking part in the annual Muscular Dystrophy Lock-Up.  Please help him raise his “bail” by putting your donation in the envelopes provided in the pew racks.

(Note: He will be released anyway, so you may as well give.)

Praise that Leads – Read Psalm 150

Recently, in my travels among the churches in Cuba, I have seen the words of Psalm 150 come alive. There, all kinds of instruments native to the region and a wide variety of local rhythms and musical styles are used in worship to celebrate God's "surpassing greatness" (150:2). People literally praise God "with trumpet ... with tambourine and dance ... with strings," not to mention drama!

Most significantly, these Christians are reaching others -- not only through dynamic worship in church but also through the daily witness of their lives. Their joy overflows in outreach to others and in acts of care that reflect God's love. Everything in their lives, as in their worship, points others to the Lord Jesus Christ.

As a result of this experience, my life will never be the same. I hope that all Christians will praise and celebrate the acts of God in our lives and in our churches and that our worship will point others to a saving faith through Jesus the Christ. I know that I am committed more than ever to turning every breath I take into an expression of praise and witness to the goodness of God.
