When you see pictures of the manger in Bethlehem, do those pictures ever have insects in them?  If Jesus was born in a stable where animals are, there were almost certainly insects around – flies, probably; maybe grasshoppers and crickets.

Most of those insects make noise, almost like a song.  And wherever there are bugs, there are bound to be birds, looking for a meal.

And birds make some of the most beautiful music of all.  I’m surprised that I never heard a Christmas carol about birds singing (except for the one about “a partridge in a pear tree”)… although I do have some bird ornaments on my family Christmas tree.

Even the bugs and the birds praise the Lord with the songs God has given them to sing.  Do you suppose we should join along?
