Paid in FullRead Romans 5:12-21

WHILE I was sitting in church during Holy Communion, I could still read the word written in ink on the back of my hand. "Paid" had been stamped on my hand after I had paid to be a spectator at a karate tournament the day before. Other people were receiving Communion as I stared at the word: Paid. I realized that the penalty for my sins had been paid, not with money but with Jesus' loving sacrificial death. Tears welled up in my eyes as the immensity of God's love washed over me.

I don't try to hold back my tears as I once did; I know that tears are one of the ways God is revealed to me. Most of the time, I cry when I realize how much God truly loves me and forgives me no matter how often I disappoint God. God has paid in full for me and for each one of us. How can we repay God for so great a gift? By living for our savior, Christ Jesus.
